Description
Classic 6 Metre Flapper
Flapper, a 1938 Anker & Jensen design, also Norwegian, is a phenomenon: After 10 years of rest in a hangar on Long Island/New York, after her former owner‘s retirement, she was „kissed awake“ by the present owner and his German crew, prepared, launched and sailed, to immediately become 2025 Corinthian World Champion Six Metres Classic Classic at the Seawanhaka Yacht Club in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, and be placed fourth in a fleet with top international professional sailors, world champions and olympic stars! She is a boat with enormous potential!
Flapper is part of a distinguished classic yacht collection and represents a rare opportunity to acquire a vessel from a knowledgeable collector who has maintained her with exceptional care and expertise.
Highlights
Dig into this ever vibrant post-olympic sailing class, enjoy the elegance and performance of these sailing-beauties, plan to participate in the always classy and truly stunning European and World Championships at the finest international yacht clubs, and dance on the waves on a relaxing afternoon sail: Go for the Six Metres!
Flapper was designed by Christian Jensen, formerly of Anker & Jensen, and built by his yard, Soon Slip og Båt A/S, in 1939 as his final Six Metre design. Following the Second World War, she was sold to Denmark, where she was selected as the Danish reserve entry for the 1948 Olympic Games in Torbay. She was based for some time at Horsens in Denmark, before eventually crossing the Atlantic to the United States. By 2002, she was in Camden, Maine, at Cannell, Paine & Page, and was later transferred to Brion Rieff’s yard in Brooklin, Maine, where she underwent a comprehensive restoration to full racing specification.
She first appeared on the international scene for the European Classic Championships at La Trinite in 2008, followed by an 8th-place finish at the 2011 Europeans in Sweden. She continued to prove her competitiveness, taking second place at the Classic Worlds in Flensburg (2013) and another runner-up finish at the British Open Classic Championship in Falmouth (2014)—a strong performance ahead of the European Championship that year. Flapper went on to finish in 5th place in the Classic Division of both the 2015 and 2017 World Championships and also finished in 4th place in the 2016 European Championship in Brunnen, Switzerland.
She currently holds the title of the 2025 Corinthian World Champion Six Metres Classic Classic at the Seawanhaka Yacht Club in Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York, and placed fourth in a fleet with top international professional sailors, world champions and Olympic stars!
Flapper is a beautiful example of high-standard design, elegant lines, excellent craftmanship, top restoration and ultimate modern racing gear! Fast, impressive, with outstanding racing results, and highly individualistic, an absolute marvel in the Six Metres Classic fleet.
