Built in 1983 by Jeanneau, the hull of the Sun Shine 36 is designed by Tony Castro with a racing spirit. However, the interior layouts provide real comfort for life on board for cruising. Since its purchase in December 2023, the owner has continuously renovated this boat named Nausicaä. As a professional sailor, he has worked diligently and zealously on this renovation for an amount of over €25,000 in materials and a year of full-time work. His goal was to make it a high-performance, pleasant, and durable boat for sailing and living on year-round.

Here is a list of the work undertaken:

• Electricity

  • Complete rewiring

  • Changed light fixtures

  • Changed the battery bank and brought it up to standards

  • Installed a 200W solar panel and power regulator

  • 220V circuit throughout the boat operating at dock or via inverter

• Ventilation

  • Installed a complete ventilation system via cooling fans

  • Set up suction and exhaust ducts in the engine room

• Insulation

  • Interior hull completely stripped

  • Cork sprayed on the walls (Soliège)

  • Glued cork panels on top

• Woodwork & Wood

  • Installed fixing battens on all walls

  • Custom-made light wood paneling varnished with epoxy

  • Installed new paneling

  • Sanded and revarnished the interior wood

• Upholstery

  • Cutting new foams

  • Custom covers in water-repellent fabric for the saloon and linen for the berths

• Plumbing

  • Changed the bilge pump

  • Created a drainage circuit for the shower water

  • Changed the electric pumps for seawater and freshwater

• Kitchen

  • Replaced the gas stove-oven on a gimbal

  • Re-sealed the fridge space

  • Replaced the refrigeration unit with a new one

• Deck

  • Changed almost all the deck hardware

  • Replaced some stanchions and bases

  • Re-sealed the deck

  • Changed the plexiglass, deck panels, and portholes

  • Created and installed a gantry

  • Installed a foldable rear bathing platform

  • Repainted the anchor well and refurbished the windlass support

• Electronics

  • Installed an AIS transceiver (Icom)

  • Installed a Raymarine chartplotter with Mediterranean-Atlantic mapping

  • Changed the autopilot for a new one (Simrad TP32)

  • New depth/speed/log tridata

• Engine

  • Tightened the engine mounts

  • Changed the hydrolube ring

  • Cleaned the diesel tank

  • Replaced the diesel gauge

  • Regular oil changes

• Hull

  • Changed some through-hull fittings

  • Recent antifouling

Regarding the sail propulsion, the vessel has a genoa on a furler recently sent for revision with a changed anti-UV strip. The mainsail on a furler is also in very good condition. A symmetrical spinnaker in good condition is also provided.
