Description
The Locwind 47 from 2004, currently undergoing a complete refitting at our shipyard, is a refined monohull sailing yacht designed to undertake long voyages and circumnavigate the globe in total safety and comfort. The result of the work of the famous French naval architects Alain Mortain & Yannis Mavrikios and built by the shipyard Locwind since 2001, it represents a perfect synthesis of traditional seamanship and modern technical solutions.
Below is a detailed and complete description divided by thematic areas:
Dimensions and Main Specifications
Hull length: 14.25 meters.
Maximum width (Beam): 4.60 meters.
Displacement: Designed to ensure excellent course stability and a smooth passage over waves, typical of long-range cruising boats.
Design and Sailing Philosophy
Construction philosophy: It has been expressly conceived as a "blue water cruiser." The architects prioritized structural solidity and ergonomics both above and below deck.
Behavior at sea: The water lines ensure perfect balance. The boat is capable of sailing with excellent averages and maintaining remarkable stability even under challenging gusts (up to 20 knots), allowing for a delay in reducing sail area. Many examples have been optimized to be safely handled even by a small crew or a couple.
Interiors and Habitability
Layout: 3 cabins - 2 bathrooms, to accommodate both the pure owner and those wishing to host friends or charter.
Quality of finishes: The interiors stand out for high-level carpentry, usually made of teak or similar fine woods, with well-crafted finishes and excellent storage capabilities.
Living Area and Kitchen: The saloon is spacious and ergonomic. The kitchen is designed to be used safely even during navigation in rough seas, often equipped with large cockpit refrigerators (or with multiple accesses), generous work surfaces, and numerous handholds.
Engine and Typical Systems
Propulsion: Often equipped with an inboard diesel engine (Nanni Diesel) with a power of 62 HP, capable of ensuring good cruising speed at low revs and low fuel consumption.
Seaworthiness: It features water lines capable of ensuring good performance and stability even in strong winds (up to 20 knots without having to excessively reduce sail area).
