The new C38 takes up the key points of the C42 with the characteristic rounded and voluminous “V bow”, the chine hull, the generous sail plan and the high stability, all factors that have proven to work very well on her bigger sister. The chines at the stern increase stability when sailing with a heeling angle of between 15 and 20 degrees. When designing the hull bottom, we also tried to use the dynamic effect of these chines as much as possible to provide faster water drainage from the hull. The boat has a generous and sporty sail plan, reaching almost 80 m2 of total surface, with the mainsail (46 m2) and the genoa at 109% (35 m2). Easy handling when tacking is guaranteed by the standard self-tacking jib (30 m2). The deckhouse is on two levels, with plenty of windows; cockpit and internal layout are similar and only slightly more compact than the C42, to the full advantage of the liveability that places the new C38 at the top of the category for volumes and internal-external liveability. The V-shaped bow gave us more space to design a large bow cabin, creating a large owner's bed (1.73 x 2 meters); the chines at the stern instead allowed us to create large aft cabins, measuring 1.50 x 2 meters.
